Planning and fitting new kitchens is time consuming and difficult.

If you adopt the conventional approach and ask a number of companies to call at your home to design, draw plans and quote, you will end up with a confusing number of different layouts and prices from different companies and have to sit through a "hard close" on each call. It will be difficult not to be railroaded into a decision by a pushy salesperson and end up paying a high price into the bargain. These companies only get orders for one in every five kitchens they quote for and the one which buys has to pay for the other 4 calls and for drawing and costing the other 4 sets of plans!

In these days of internet marketing a better option exists. You can get your new fitted kitchen designed for free and buy it at up to 65% off normal prices charged by local "supply and fit" showrooms, all from the comfort of your own home and without allowing pushy sales people into your home.

The kitchen doors and cabinets will both come to you direct from the respective factories and cut out the expensive "Brand Name" middleman to make these huge savings

If you need the services of a fitter, all you have to do is to look at  the adverts in your local paper for the services of a local carpenter, who will probably make a better job than some of the so-called "professinal kitchen fitters" hired by specialist firms. Make sure your carpenter is able to make a Mason's mitre for joining the worktops, otherwise he should not have a problem fitting your new kitchen.

If you want to have a go at planning your new kitchen yourself before approaching an internet supplier, first draw out your kitchen, approximately to scale. Then choose where to position your appliances, not forgetting that the sink and any appliances using water, need to be close to a waste outlet, which usually means locating it at, or near to the existing position. The main reason for locating the sink by the window is not for light purposes, or for being able to gaze out of the window while washing up but because the drain is usually just outside!

It's often a good idea to position the washing machine or dishwasher to either side of the sink and then the connections to water and waste supplies are easy. Then place the oven/hob on an adjacent wall which you will probably designate as the "cooking area" If there is another "side to the kitchen area, that is to say you have a "U" shaped worktop layout, then this side will house the refrigerator and will be the "preparation area"

Armed with a suggested layout, you are now ready to look for an internet "supply only" fitted kitchen supplier who offers a Free Design Service and send your sketch plan for them to add the detail and specify the kitchen cabinet sizes and the kitchen doors to be used.
